Steven Gerrard – Recovering from a tight groin will be available on Sunday.
Fernando Torres – 100% fit, played for Spain and scored – will be available on Sunday.
Jaime Carragher – Recovering from a twisted Ankle will be available on Sunday.
Daniel Agger – Lower back injury, did not feature for Denmark yesterday might be doubtful for Sunday
Albert Riera – Played for Spain and scored yesterday, will be available on Sunday.
Martin Skrtel – Played in a friendly yesterday, should be available on Sunday.
Fabio Aurelio – Injured while on holiday, will be out for another few weeks.
Alberto Aquilani – Recovering from surgery, will not feature for another 7 weeks.

Oh btw, Aquilani will be wearing the number 4 on his jersey.

The pre-season is coming to an end. We have had 2 wins, 2 draws and 3 horrific loses. It wasn't a great pre-season but lets hope the outcome it won't affect our results for the 09/10 season.

The last game of the pre-season was at Anfield and Atletico Madrid where back and they gave us a beating. We couldn't beat them in the group stages last season in the Champions League after both matches ended 1-1 but this time, they pulled something out of the bag. 2 goals in the first half upset the Anfield crowd but during the 81st minute, Lucas scores to make it 2-1. There was hope but it was too late.

There was more agony for Rafa as he had to watch Jamie Carragher limb of the pitch during the 13th minute after he twisted his ankle. Reds fan were worried about the injury as he is the 3rd defender to join the injury room as Agger and Skrtel are still recovering form their own problems. But, Rafa assured Liverpool fans that Carra will be back for Spurs.

Lucas Leiva has enjoyed the season with the reds and is confident that Liverpool will start off the Prem as strong as ever in the new season.
"I'm feeling really good and I'm training really hard," he told Liverpoolfc.tv. "I'm looking to impress and we must see what happens.
 
"We are sad because Xabi has gone but hopefully whoever comes in will show quality and improve the squad."
The Brizalian midfielder belives the Reds can build on that performance in their final pre-season friendly againt Atletico Madrid which is being played in Anfield
Lucas said "It's always good to win and the performance was much better than against Espanyol," he said. After the reds secured a win against FC Lyn.
"We still need to improve but we are moving in the right direction for the start of the Barclays Premier League.
 
"It will be a really good test for us when we take on Atletico Madrid. It is our last game before the season starts. We know about them because we played them last year in the Champions League.
"Hopefully we will set ourselves up for the season with a win at Anfield.

Javier Mascherano had an extended holiday with the birth of his second daughter. He missed a couple of games but told Liverpoolfc.tv that he'll be in a good position by the start of the new season.
"I need a little bit more work because I arrived back when my teammates had already been back 10 days." said Masch and hopefully he can get his fitness back after the summer and kick off the season well.
"After Saturday's game against Atletico we'll have seven days to get in top condition for the Premier League."
He also talked bout our defeat at Barcelona to Espanyol and he said "We didn't do well against Espanyol so it was important to win against FC Lyn."

  Dirk Kuyt today insisted Liverpool can overcome the losss of Xabi Alonso and mount another serious challenge for the prem title. Kuyt admits Xabi will be missed following his move to Real Madrid. Kuyt thinks that we should be able to cope without him particularly with Alberto Aquilani signing for the Reds once he has completed a medical at Melwood.

  Kuyt helped the reds by securing a 2-0 win over FC Lyn in Oslo ashe captained the side to their second pre-season win just after out defeat at Barcelona against Espanyol. Which was also Xabi’s last match.

“I was just focused on the game but if it’s correct that he is signing and the deal happens then it’s good because we will be signing a new player with a lot of quality," said Kuyt.

Xabi is a very good player but these kind of things happen in football.

Teams are changing all the time. Xabi played very well for Liverpool but that’s all history now and we have to move on.

“We have to look forward. That’s what Xabi is doing with Real Madrid and we have to do the same.

“We have a lot of good players still here and we are all determined to go one better in the league after coming so close to winning the title last season.”

  Aquilani arrived in the UK Yesterday and after landing at Heathrow. He is due to attend a medical at Melwood very soon and hopefully be training with the squad.
